Hey Scott,

Just wanted you to know that I was thinking of some baseball tours and
came across your site when using Google. I read most of your ballpark
adventure stories and column and can't wait to hit the road sometime to
take in some parks. I'm currently missing the entire baseball season
while serving in the Navy here in the Persian gulf off the coast of
Iraq...fun stuff as you can imagine. Missing the season is killing me
and I was thinking how next summer (or whenever) how I would like to
make a trip to see some parks. Reading your stories on the various parks
has made me want to do this even more....and made me crave a cold beer
as well.
Thanks and keep up the column and ballpark adventure stories.

I was doing some research for a trip I am planning next year and came across your site. I have enjoyed it so far and have bookmarked it to catch up later on your postings. I don't really care for the naming of stadiums either but I see why they do it. I lived in Dallas for years and thought the greatest name ever was simply The Ballpark. It will always be The Ballpark to me and not Ameriquest. I am hoping to travel next year and visit each MLB stadium as well as a few other places like the HOF and Field of Dreams along the way. I know it is a long way off but this is a dream trip for me and I want to go through with it but need to save and plan. Keep up the good work on the site.

------------------------------------------------------------------- Great page.

I am an avid Baseball Fan from Germany (currently living in Poland).

How much I would love to join you guys on your frequent trips !

I have been in the US a number of times - although my last visit was in 1997.

During this time I managed to visit the following Major League Parks (plus Cooperstown twice):

Fenway Park - my very first game, Labor day weekend, Roger Clemens on the mound and farewell to George Brett. Difficult to top, isn't it ?

Wrigley Field - as I am a Die-Hard-Cubs fan, what more do I need to say ? (2 night games, one of them in almost freezing tempratures, 4 game in perfect summer conditions)

Sky Dome (2 games during the 1993 season, when the Blue Jays sold out almost every game. During 1 game, the roof was closed)

Montreal Olympic Stadium - enough said !

Kingdome - not very pretty place, but I saw a triple play !

Comiskey Park - very steep !

Jacobs Field (great Box seat during a 14-inning game in 1995. Albert Belle (anybody remembers him ?) won it with a walk-off-homer.

Yankee-Stadium (what a place !)

Camden Yards (couldn't see the game though, as I happend to be in Baltimore the day when Cal Ripken broke the record. But I was able to take a giuded tour which was very nice).

Riverfront Stadium

Kauffman Stadium

Busch Stadium

In total a very nice number of Ballparks. I have passed through several other cities (Philadelphia, NY (Mets) Miami, Atlanta, S.F., LA), unfortunately there wasn't a game on (i.e. during Sept. 1994 !)

Last but not least, I can add 3 Ballparks in Japan, as I lived there for a few years, so I visited games at Tokyo Dome (including a game between MLB- and Japanese Allstars in 1997, MVP: Cal Ripken), Jingu Stadium and Yokohama Stadium.

Regards from Poland

Dear Scott,
My wife and I have recently discovered your site. We really have enjoyed
your recent column as well as your accounts of your various baseball trips.
We particularly enjoyed reading about your Butte, Montana trip.

We were wondering if you will be writing any reports from the Ohio stadiums
that you visited. We are originally from Ohio and were particularly
interested in what you thought. Unfortunately we have been living in New
England for the past several years and have become (very) frustrated Red
Sox fans!

We really hope you keep up with your column and congrats on a great site.

Sincerely,
D. Mueller

Ron,

I, too, am from the Chicago area, and am currently living in Memphis, TN.  I also am a huge baseball fan, and for several years now, have been touring major and minor league ballparks.

So far this year my total is 45 games attended at 16 parks including: Nashville,  West Tennessee, South Bend, Burlington, Gateway Grizzlies, Peoria Chiefs, PNC Park, Cook County Cheetahs, Louisville Slegger Field, Cashman Field in Las Vegas, Ft. Wayne and Applebee's Park in Lexington.  Anyway, keep up the great work, and best of luck and safe travels on your vacations.  What is your favorite ballpark -- minor and major?

hi,

I was reading the article about your trip in Montreal.  I can see that you didnt like the BIG "O".  I dont blame you.  But you have to admit that Montreal is pretty cool city!!!  But one thing did bug me a lil.  The fact that Quebecers dont bother to speak english....well im sorry to inform you that thats just a load of crap!!!!  Half the city of Montreal (3 500 000) speaks english!!!! I mean honestly.....do you think that people in North Carolina are gonna talk to me in French because im from Montreal???? Cmon...get real....Americans are gonna talk in english because they think that english is the only language in the world... and thats they re language....well thats just not true....When you come in a french environment...expect ta hear people speak french...geeezzz its not as if we drove on the left side of the road.....You are the visitors....you have to adjust....its that simple!  I can just imagine going to Fenway an! d asking for a burger in french.... LOL....the guy at the stand is gonna tell me..."speak english or beat it".  At leat Montreal has english speaking people....how many people speak french in Atlanta!!! LOL...thats what i thought!!!

Maybe next time you come to Montreal...you will be a lil more prepared!!!

 No hard feelings

Hi guys,
Enjoyed  your  web-site  which  I  became  aware  of  thanks  to  MINOR TRIPS  newsletter, have  subscribed  to  this  for  about  six  years.
I  am  English   and   have  been  to  places  in  America  watching baseball   at  all  levels  from  college  to  minors  to  major  leagues  that people  from  the  UK  will  never  visit, Hickory, Trenton, Clemson etc. Next  trip  you  two  guys  make  I  suggest if possible you get some NCAA  ball  games  in.
College  baseball  is  one  of  the  great undiscovered  joys  in  America. It's  cheap  and  a  some  of  the  ballparks  such  as  Ohio  State's  Bill Davis  would  rival  the  lower  minor  leagues  parks.
Have  been  to  something  like  14  major  league  stadiums  some of which  no  longer  are  around, Memorial  Stadium  Baltimore, Kingdome, Milwaukee  a  personal  favorite  even  though  the  place  was  looking old  and  it  was  a  wet  Tuesday  night  in  Sept  against  the  Yankees everyone  was  so  friendly  and  the  beer & hot dogs  were  great  plus the  Yankees  won, something  they  did  not  do  with  such  regularity back  in  93.
Also  follow  the  Cubs  since  seeing  three  games  there  in  93, it's ten  times  better  than  that  other  ballpark  in  the  south  side  of Chicago.
Once  more  enjoyed  the  site  it  could  just  do  with  some  more comments  about  your  experiences  at  the  parks.
