August 20, 2009 -- ARCHIVES -- Send me a comment! This'll be a short entry because I'm busy packing and getting ready to leave for this years trip -- Tomorrow! I know I got on the whole Social Networking bandwagon a bit late, but BaseballTrips.net now has a Twitter page, and I'll be posting "Tweets" throughout the trip. If you'd like to follow along, click here. And I'll be back to update this site as soon as possible when I get back. Catch you later! ******************************************************* August 12, 2009 -- ARCHIVES -- Send me a comment! Have you ever heard of the Anticipation/Realization Threshold? I'm guessing you probably haven't because, well, I made it up. It's a pretty simple formula I use when I'm about to go on a trip. You see, it's always fun to plan a vacation or a weekend getaway. But a while back I began noticing that there's always a point at which the fun of planning gives way to near-obsession; you start thinking about little else besides the trip and you just want to GO already. Then I noticed that this point usually arrives in proportion to the length of the trip. Going away for a 3-day weekend on Friday? You'll be dying to get out of town about Tuesday. Your big 2-week European vacation that starts on the 14th? It'll be all that's on your mind after the 1st. So naturally, I decided to put a name to this phenomenon. The Anticipation/Realization Threshold occurs at the exact amount of time before the trip begins that is equal to the amount of time the trip is scheduled to last. If you're going on a 10-day trip, you cross the A/RT 10 days before you leave. Simple, no? The point being that once inside the A/RT, your life is all about getting away. I think that's a good feeling. ...And, by the way, the Anticipation/Realization Threshold for this year's Baseball Trip is today. |
